1. Getting Started
There are two ways to access promos on relayd.fm:
Via email link (no account needed)
When a label sends you a promo, you'll receive an email with a unique link. Click it to open the promo page directly - no login required. You can listen to all the tracks, leave feedback, and download music right from that page.
Create an account (optional)
If you receive promos regularly, you can create a free Artist / DJ account at relayd.fm/register. This gives you access to the Artist Portal where all your promos are collected in one place. You can also create an account directly from any promo page.
It's completely free - artists and DJs never pay anything.
2. Opening a Promo Link
When you click the promo link in your email, you'll land on a dedicated promo page for that release. Here's what you'll see:
- Artwork & details - The release artwork, campaign name, label name, genre, release date, and any message from the label
- Track list - All the tracks in the release with play buttons
- Audio player - Click any track to listen. A waveform player appears so you can scrub through the audio
- Feedback section - Rate the release, say whether you'll play it, and leave a comment
- Download buttons - If the label has enabled downloads, you'll see download buttons next to each track
Your promo link is unique to you - please don't share it with others.
3. The Artist Portal
If you've created an account, log in at relayd.fm/login and select Artist Portal. The portal has these sections:
Promos
This is your inbox. All promos sent to you by labels appear here. You can switch between list view and tile view. Use the filter tabs to show:
- All - Every promo you've received
- New - Promos you haven't opened yet
- Reviewed - Promos you've left feedback on
- Favourited - Promos you've marked as favourites
- Not for me - Promos you've declined
Locker
Your personal music library. Save tracks you like and come back to them anytime. Think of it as your playlist of promo music.
Subscriptions
See all the labels that send you promos. You can unsubscribe from labels here if you no longer want to receive their music, and resubscribe if you change your mind.
Notifications
A feed of everything that's happened - new promos, feedback replies, and other updates. The bell icon in the header shows your unread count.
4. Listening to Tracks
Click the play button next to any track to start listening. A waveform player will appear at the bottom of the screen.
The Player
- Play / Pause - Toggle playback
- Waveform - Click anywhere on the waveform to skip to that part of the track
- Previous / Next - Jump between tracks in the release
- Time display - Shows current position and total duration
The player stays visible as you scroll so you can read release notes or leave feedback while listening. It hides automatically when you reach the bottom of the page.
Search
If you have an account, use the search bar in the header to find promos by campaign name, artist name, track title, or label name.
5. Leaving Feedback
Labels really value your feedback - it helps them understand what's working and what to send you next. Here's how to leave it:
Rate the release
At the bottom of the promo page, you'll see a star rating (1 to 5 stars). Click to rate the overall release. This helps the label gauge interest.
Will you play this?
Let the label know if you plan to play their music. Choose Yes, No, or Maybe. This is useful for labels to track DJ support.
Write a short note - what you liked, which tracks stood out, whether you'd play it in a set. A sentence or two is plenty. Labels really appreciate hearing from you.
Per-track feedback
You can also rate and comment on individual tracks within a release. This gives labels even more detailed insight into which tracks are resonating.
Favourite
Click the heart icon on any promo to mark it as a favourite. Favourited promos appear in your Favourited filter for easy access later.
Not for me
If the music isn't your style, click Not Interested. This lets the label know politely. You won't receive further promos from that label unless you resubscribe.
6. Downloading Tracks
If the label has enabled downloads for a campaign, you'll see a download button next to each track.
Unlock downloads
Some labels require you to rate the release before you can download. Just leave a star rating and the download buttons will unlock.
Dropbox integration
If you've connected your Dropbox account in Settings, downloaded tracks can be automatically saved to your Dropbox for easy access from any device.
File formats
Tracks are available in the format the label uploaded them - typically MP3 or WAV. The file will download directly to your device.
7. Managing Subscriptions
Go to Subscriptions in the sidebar to see all the labels that have you on their promo list.
Unsubscribe
If you no longer want to receive promos from a label, click Unsubscribe next to their name. You'll stop receiving emails from that label immediately. You can also unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any promo email.
Resubscribe
Changed your mind? Click Subscribe next to any label you've previously unsubscribed from. You'll start receiving their promos again.
How labels add you
Labels add DJs to their contact list manually. If a label you work with uses relayd.fm, they can add your email and you'll start receiving promos. There's nothing you need to do on your end.
8. Settings & Account
Click the gear icon in the header to access your settings.
Profile
- Name - Your artist or DJ name shown to labels
- Email - Your login email
- Password - Update your password anytime
Dropbox
Connect your Dropbox account to automatically save downloads. Click Connect Dropbox and follow the authorisation flow. You can disconnect at any time.
Delete account
If you want to remove your account, you can do so from Settings. This will delete your profile and all associated data.
9. Common Questions
Do I need an account to listen to promos?
No. You can listen, rate, and download directly from the promo link in your email. An account is only needed if you want all your promos in one place.
Is it free?
Yes, always. Artists and DJs never pay anything. The platform is funded by labels who pay to send promos.
Why can't I download a track?
Either the label hasn't enabled downloads for that campaign, or you need to leave a rating first to unlock the download buttons.
How do I stop receiving promos from a label?
Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any promo email. Or if you have an account, go to Subscriptions and click Unsubscribe next to the label.
Can I get promos from a label I unsubscribed from?
Yes. If you have an account, go to Subscriptions and click Subscribe to rejoin their list. If you don't have an account, ask the label to re-add you.
My promo link has expired. What do I do?
Some labels set an expiry date on their promos. Once it passes, the link will no longer work. Contact the label directly if you still need access.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the login page, click Forgot password? and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link. If you don't see it, check your spam folder.
